TOUR DESCRIPTION
Wadi Rum is a vast, silent expanse of desert and towering rock formations, shaped over millennia by wind and time into otherworldly landscapes of breathtaking beauty. Its colors range from golden yellows to deep reds, creating a dramatic and ever-changing canvas.
Evidence of human presence here dates back to prehistoric times, with stone tools from the Palaeolithic and Neolithic periods—nearly 9,000 years ago—found scattered across the valley. For thousands of years, nomads and hunters roamed this area, leaving behind petroglyphs and inscriptions that still mark their passage.
Today, Wadi Rum is home to the Bedouin people, who continue to live in traditional goat-hair tents, raising livestock and preserving a timeless desert way of life.
This extraordinary setting has served as the backdrop for major films, including Lawrence of Arabia and Red Planet. At the visitor center, you’ll switch to 4×4 vehicles for an exhilarating drive into the heart of this surreal landscape.
Along the way, enjoy the profound silence when the engines pause, and marvel at the natural rock bridges, towering cliffs, and ancient carvings. Several scenic stops will offer chances to take photos and relax in a traditional Bedouin tent.
The experience culminates in a desert camp, where you’ll enjoy a traditional welcome as you are served Arabic tea and delicacy in a huge Bedouin tent furnished with Bedouin carpets, before you board the bus to return to your ship.
